HEAL Researchers Deliver Keynotes on New Built Environment & Health Report

Rick Sadler (HEAL Research Associate, PhD Candidate) and Dr. Jason Gilliland (HEAL Director, Professor) were keynote speakers in Owen Sound today at a forum on “The Role of the Built Environment and GIS Mapping in Improving Local Health Outcomes.”  Dr. Gilliland highlighted the link between the built environment and health, while Rick presenting findings from the report they co-authored they co-authored for the Grey-Bruce Health Unit on “Opportunities for Healthy Eating and Healthy Physical Activity in Grey Bruce”. The audience included local policymakers, public health professionals, municipal employees and other stakeholders who discussed next steps for building healthy communities in Grey Bruce.   The report and forum were co-sponsored by Bruce County, Grey County, the Grey Bruce Health Unit, and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
