Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Dr. Rick Sadler, Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Human Environments Analysis Lab, recently gave a talk at the Genesee County (Michigan) Health Department's Annual Public Health Week Conference: "Race and Place: Health Equity".  Dr. Sadler's talk, entitled "A Geographic Perspective on Healthy Environments in Flint", centered on GIS and community engagement work he recently completed in Flint, Michigan, the site of much of his research.  This work has brought him into contact and collaboration with over 60 community groups throughout the region, as well as the county health department and the Genesee County Land Bank.  Dr. Sadler's talk explored healthy food environments, community greening initiatives, local food systems development, and historic patterns of housing segregation.
