HEAL Obesity Research featured in Canadian Geographic

Saturday, April 4, 2015

Insights by Western Geography professor Dr. Jason Gilliland are featured in the April 2015 issue of Canadian Geographic. In the article entitled “The Geography of Obesity”, writer Paul Webster discusses ongoing research by Jason and his team in the Human Environments Analysis Lab on how good urban planning and design can help promote population health and reverse rising obesity rates by making it easier to be physically active and eat healthy. Webster writes that “Jason Gilliland has turned the entire city of London – with its walkable historical core surrounded by concentric rings of largely unwalkable modern suburbs – into a laboratory”. Some of the maps that Jason and his team in the HEALab have created are available online at [Link]
