Don Lafreniere is a PhD Candidate and Vanier Canada Scholar in the Human Environments Analysis Laboratory in the Department of Geography at the University of Western Ontario. He is the project manager for the Imagining London HGIS project and collaborator on the Victoria HGIS project. His research interests are widely spread across the intersection of urban geography, social history, and demography. His doctoral research is in urban historical geography and, more specifically, the role social class, age, gender, and ethnicity play in the creation of social spaces in late-nineteenth century Canadian cities. His other interests include historical demography and record linkage, sense of place and neighbourhood geographies, early North American settlement geography, and applications of GIS for historical cartographic reproductions.
