Growing up on a family dairy farm helped to hone Mark's academic interests in issues surrounding food access, as well as agricultural preservation. Mark completed his first undergraduate degree in biology at Queen's University before transitioning to geography at the University of Guelph. During his undergraduate career he has had the opportunity to examine rural food access in Schoharie County, New York, as well as grocery store access in Hamilton, Ontario. Mark's current research focuses on developing technological interventions to improve food access that are beneficial for both vendors and consumers.
