London Free Press features HEAL’s Dr. Gilliland and Dr. Clark on Active and Safe Routes to School Project

Dr. Jason Gilliland and Dr. Andrew Clark were recently featured in the London Free Press on the Active and Safe Routes to School Project for studying the environmental benefits of children walking to school instead of being drive.

The Active and Safe Routes to School program, lead by Dr. Gilliland and Dr. Clark, will be running through Western University’s Human Environments Analysis Laboratory. The two-year study will be on 12 London-area public and Catholic schools to determine ways to remove barriers, change habits and come up with school travel plans to encourage more kids to walk, cycle or take public transit to school.
