HEAL Alumni Profile: Leah Taylor

Leah Taylor from the Canadian Forces shares her graduate experience, and research. Leah completed her MSc in Geography with Dr. Jason Gilliland at the HEAL in 2018. During her studies with the HEAL, Leah examined geographic variation in children’s perceived barriers to physical activity and the implications on behaviour as a part of the Spatial Temporal Environment and Activity Monitoring (STEAM) project. With the HEAL’s connection to public health and the practice of community geography, she was uniquely positioned for a role as a Community Recreation Coordinator for Personnel Support Programs at the Canadian Forces Support Base in Wainwright, Alberta. As Community Recreation Coordinator, she plans, implements, and evaluates recreation programming for military members, their families, veterans and the extended defence community.
