2020 – 2021 Meeting Minutes Summary 3

First, HEAL researchers, AJ Wray and Haley Everitt, discussed their studies with the HEALYAC council members.

In this meeting, the youth had a chance to learn an important aspect of research – Ethics. The HEALYAC was introduced to ethics by Katelyn Harris, a member of Western’s Non-Medical Research Ethics Board. This board is responsible for reviewing research studies at Western to make sure that they are following guidelines and recommendations in place to protect human subjects. The HEALYAC members learned about its importance and role in creating new studies and advancing knowledge.

Next, the YAC was updated with the application feasibility of the topics of concern discussed during the previous meeting (Check out November 20th)
