SmartAPPetite COVID Project is launched!

Today is the official launch of the COVID Pivot for the SmartAPPetite project, which is funded by the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Institute for Health Research. This project is led by HEAL Director, Dr. Jason Gilliland (Western University), and HEAL Faculty Associates Dr. Colleen O’Connor (Brescia University College), Dr. Sean Doherty (Wilfrid Laurier University), and Dr. Leia Minaker (University of Waterloo).

SmartAPPetite is a nutrition and healthy living smartphone app that provides users with scientifically valid information on how to eat healthy, and healthy living in general. The project invites high school aged teenagers from 13 to 18 years of age to participate in a randomized control trial. Students will be randomized into intervention and control groups, with intervention students using the app for 10 weeks to receive messages about healthy eating.

We are currently looking for high school youth to participate in this research study. For more information visit smartappetite.ca. Teens can participate in the study by visiting smartappetite.ca/community. If you have any questions, please contact our research teams at smartappetite@uwo.ca.
