Congratulations to HEAL Graduate Student Alexandra Overvelde who received a Canada Graduate Scholarship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada

Alexandra’s MA research, under the supervision of Dr. Jason Gilliland in the Department of Geography and Environment, examines how workplace changes resulting from the pandemic have affected the health and overall wellbeing of employees in the food hospitality and retail sectors in Ontario. The results of this research will provide insight into the struggles which employees have faced and will be used to advocate to policy makers for a more equitable approach to decision making that considers individuals working in the food hospitality and food retail sectors during the pandemic.
