Congratulations to HEAL postdoctoral fellow Anastasia Soukhov!
At the 2026 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Geographers (AAG) in San Francisco, Anastasia Soukhov was awarded the Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award by the Transportation Geography Specialty Group (TGSG). This prestigious honour recognizes her dissertation, Reuniting Accessibility Measures with Spatial Interaction Principles, a scholarly contribution firmly situated within transportation geography.
Anastasia is pictured with TGSG Chair Prof. Paul Jung at the award presentation. Her dissertation advances conceptual and methodological connections between accessibility measures and spatial interaction theory, contributing to ongoing discussions around equity, mobility, and justice in transportation research.
This work was completed under the supervision of Prof. Antonio Paez at McMaster University, with support from the Mobilizing Justice Partnership and the McMaster University – School of Earth, Environment & Society.
