Mariam joined the Human Environmental Analysis Laboratory (HEAL) laboratory in January 2017. She is a student in the Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, specializing in the field of health promotion. She is co-supervised by the research associate Dr. Danielle Battram, PhD, RD who is a faculty member at Brescia University College/Western University. Mariam’s research involves the evaluation both the innovative centrally procured school food program (CPSFP) developed by the Ontario Student Nutrition Program (OSNP) and the current school food programs in London and surrounding areas. The project has two-fold aims: First, to improve the nutritional quality of fruits and vegetables being offered through the current school food programs and consequently children’s overall dietary consumption, especially fruits and vegetables and secondly to successfully establish a national school food program in the region.
